But the truth is that some of the changes from Gen 4 to Gen 5 are significant. Externally, both guns look almost identical, with a few cosmetic changes, most notably the grip and magazine. But there are many other changes as well.

The front of the Glock Gen 5 slide is now shortened. This is partly for aesthetics, but it should also make it easier to view the machine from the front. Although, of course, the layout of the previous slides probably would have been better for that purpose.

Another early shortcoming of Glock revolvers was the lack of an ambidextrous slide stop to accommodate left-handed shooters. The rest of the shooters had to spend money to upgrade their rifles to accept it, but that is no longer the case with the slide stop on both sides of the gun.

That said, Glock also removed the locking pin on the Gen 4, replacing it with the two-pin system that was on the front of the Gen 1, 2, and 3. The reason for this change to the old style was that the gun would have fewer moving parts and therefore less chance of failure (even if only slightly).

Is the Glock Gen 5 better than previous generations? It's not that it's better or worse, it's just different.
