NRA Gun of the Week: Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus 30 Super Carry | The official magazine release for NRAStaccato's newest model for 2022 is called the CS, and it's the smallest and lightest model in the lineup for everyday carry and personal defense.
We've all been waiting to hear about the new Staccato model for the past few months, and the details are here.
At the time of writing (October 27, 2022), these have yet to ship to Premium dealers, so we'll compare published specs before distribution, and update with pictures and video reviews when they do.
Staccato P Dpo 2011 Review
At 7.1 inches long, the CS is now the shortest staccato available. For comparison, the C2 is listed at 7.5 inches long. But the big change in its width is reduced, which means it has a new grip shape. The grip width is about one hundred thousandths of an inch shorter than the width of the C2, and the C2 is about fifty thousandths less in safety. The slim width should provide a comfortable concealed carry experience with IWB holsters.
The CS frame is made of aluminum. Previously, the only way to get a "Small Staccato" aluminum frame was to get a C2-Limited. Comes with screw barrel and Dawson compensator. (It's a good option if you want to shoot), but the CS has a lighter aluminum frame instead of steel.
Thanks to its smaller size and aluminum frame, the weight has been reduced from the C2 to 22.7 ounces without compromising magazine capacity.
One of the first things you'll notice is the new clutch. Although the STYLING handle reminds us of the redesigned G2 Tac that now appears on the P and XC models, it's a new module that's (specifically) narrower than the C2 handle module.
Playing The Long Game With Sti's Staccato C
As the magazine has changed, so have the magazines, but they still hold 16 rounds each (like the C2). However, it is a CS-specific journal and cannot share journals with other Staccato models.
The Staccato CS is reported to come with an aluminum trigger instead of the usual composite trigger. And the trigger weight is given at 4-4.5 pounds, which is typical for an everyday personal defense rifle.
The CS comes with a 3.5-inch barrel, which we haven't seen in the Staccato lineup before. It has some notable design features in its barrel section.
